E3 2013 infohub.

It is upon us!  The clock has struck midnight, and I have magically transformed into a very excited gamer.  Happy E3 everyone!  I'll update this page at the end of each day (you'll find it at the top of the sidebar, on the right, for easy clickin').

If you've been paying attention to the news, you're entirely aware that - for our sake, at least - E3 essentially started on Monday the 3rd, and we've been wallowing like greedy little piggies in sweet troughs of news ever since.  This post will be broken down by type of news, and by date.  All game trailers will be together, and all new game announcements, et cetera (which will lead to some overlap).  By the end of the week, this page will be very long.

What's happened with E3 2013 so far?  Dig it.

  • Sony's press conference wins them E3.  It was staggering.
  • The PS4 is $399 US - coming this year, but no date.
  • The PS4 has no DRM.
  • The PS4 does not block used or traded games in any way
  • The PS4 does not require an internet connection.  At all.  Play your games all you want, wherever you want.
  • The PS4 requires a PlayStation Plus membership for online gaming, but otherwise everything you expect - Netflix, Hulu, et cetera - are freely available without the subscription, just like they are now.
  • The PS4 allows indie developers to self-publish, and already has a very impressive lineup (Klei Entertainment, Supergiant Games!)
  • Ubisoft's press conference was pretty boring, aside from Rayman Legends and South Park.
  • EA's press conference was pretty good, thanks almost entirely to DICE
  • Star Wars: Battlefront announced for next-gen consoles (DICE developing)
  • Mirror's Edge 2 announced for next-gen consoles (DICE)
  • Microsoft's press conference breakdown.  It was awesome
  • Killer Instinct reboot announced
  • Xbox One is coming November 2013 - $499 US
  • Microsoft did not address its announced DRM, used games and the requirement to connect every 24 hours to verify your account on Xbox One, focusing entirely on the games.

  • Nothin'.  Unless you count indies Olli Olli (Vita) and Splice (PS3), which aren't so much announcements as games nobody talked about.

  • As usual, I threw up so many posts today Blogger thinks I'm an automaton designed for a single, productive purpose.  I suppose, in a manner of speaking, it's right.
